Any difference you notice almost certainly will have come from having new plugs and not the brand or type.
The multi-electrode types only offer longer service life than a single electrode, nothing more. They will not increase power "responsiveness" or anything else the box no doubt leads people to believe.

I thought it was NGK or at least they were the preferred ones.

Perhaps it's just for the early engines then.
Certainly when I bought plugs from the local main dealers they were Bosch and took a couple of days to arrive as they're a funny heat range for the chromies or something according to mr Parts Desk

Plugs are just plugs,
you have to select them based on cold or hot range you need,
no plug makes more power then another one,

Bosch could well be OE - I havent bought plugs for ages (my M20 is still running the same plugs that were in it when I took the engine out of the Sport 2yrs agoTurbo-Brown wrote:Perhaps it's just for the early engines then.
I cant find the thread now, but Im sure Ant was talking about NGK plugs for the early cars and that he is (or was) using them in his turbo conversion.

I agonised over this before I changed my plugs and decided in the end to just slap Bosch +1s in there. Guess what was in already? yep, bosch +1s. Job sorted. Ant may be using NGKs in a turbo conversion, but thats a turbo - totally different kettle of fish!
The halfrauds guy said he could order in a set of 6 for Ԛ£19.99 but I wanted them on the spot and bought 8 incase I broke 2 with my incredible mechanical skill ;)

IIRC he said about using NGKs for an early car in a late car, something to do with the different temps.

At the end of the day, a spark plug represents two bits of metal held a specified distance apart between which a spark jumps.
Don't suppose the engine's aware of which brand name is on them unless perhaps some brand or other had a deficiency in the insulation department, but I'm pretty sure everyone still uses Aluminium Oxide for that so it seems unlikely.

I guess plugs are plugs at the end of the day ,
the old ones were passed there best think they had been in there for a good few yrs (ive only had the car 6mths) the electrodes fell off when i tried cleaning them with a wire brush.
And on a sunday afternoon where else can u get plugs than halfords and the only ones they had where these super 4 .
