Following on from this post.......

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... ic&t=48636

I have done some other subtle mods to the car.

Firstly fitted a set of mudflaps following on from my 'cool or uncool' post. My arches are mint, and have been fully cleaned and protected with stonechip and underseal prior to fitting. :D

Fitted 'Ebay' front strut brace :D

Image

Image

Fitted the carbon clock surround, chrome rings, and painted the needles red too. Unable to fit the glass back on the clocks yet as the paint keeps sticking the rev needle to the rest pin!

Image

Went to Spadges yeateday to fit the 13 button OBC, and Aussie Colin turned up, so 3 Beamer petrol heads all working on mine, cool! :thumb:

Thanks guys! :thumb: :thumb:

Image

Whilst all the dash was out, a good time to get all the heater bulbs working, and fix all the rattles. All done and is lit up like Blackpool now

Colin had the leather gear and handbrake gaiters in his car, so we swapped for my plain set, + the handbrake handle.

Gave it a good wash too......

Had to put the standard fornt lip on as I have ripped IS one off so many times now  Gonna keep it for Sunday best! lol!

What do you think?

I haven't actually seen a pic of a carbon clock surround actually fitted. I thought they might look a bit 'garish', but I like the look of that.

Nice clean car, any other plans in the pipeline ?.

haha u have put on the first 2 things i took off my car the grandpa spec mudflaps and poorly fitting fake carbon fibre cluster. leather handbrake cover looks nice but the handle is cheap n nasty. u should try jsut putting the rings in the cluster it looks much much better trust me.

Thanks for the comments. I have changed so much on the car, ie all the suspension and every bush, that its difficult to tell the difference the strut brace has made. I know it was a bitch to fit though! Appears to be too long, had to jack the car up which helped a little and had to file the holes slightly larger on the brace.

I can fully recommend them though to anyone that wants to buy one, for Ԛ£30 you cant go wrong!

Same as mine mate. There are 2 that light that panel up. to remove panel, pop out the 4 switchs (on mine I have 2, and 2 blanks, hazards and rear window). Look up, there are 2 self tappers.

Pull the knobs off the 3 sliders, and that panel unclips, bit fiddly but it does. 4 self tappers behind here.

There are 2 self tappers under neath the panel. The left one under the hot/cold dial isnt so bad to get out, the right one under the fan speed is a mare! Mine didnt have one in, and still hasnt as its such a pain. The panel will come off, revealing 2 bulbs.

As they say in the Haynes book, refitting is the reversal! lol!

Sorted.

Other option is to pull the radio, and fish around for the wires -your looking for 2 small wires that go top left of the heater panel and I think it's mid - bottom right of the speed dial. I CAN CHANGE MINE THIS WAY BUt it's a bit fiddly. But damn sight more fun that doing the whole panel! 8O

The mods look spot on Ian...Well done 8)

I take it you bought the mudflaps from the stealers?? if so how much were they and what's the part code mate? I tried to replace my front one's as they have cracked, due to it being lowered, but had no joy from my dealership :?

For Ԛ£30 the strut brace looks the part too... 8)

Thanks

Mudflap link.....

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E30-3-Series- ... dZViewItem

Ԛ£21.99 + Ԛ£5 postage for set of 4.

If you have skirts like mine the fronts will need trimming to fit round the kit. Other than that they fit perfect! :D

stuartgallafant : I have the IS lip, but the car is tooooooooo low at the front and I keep ripping it off! lol!

If you do then next time you bring the car round we'll work on it on the 'Council' estate up the road
Still not a lover of the handbrake thing but if it floats you boat :D

I have had some suspension issues with a kit I bought. Supposed to be 60/40, but its more like 80 on the front and the rears raised it 10mm! Bought another set of springs, 30mm all round, and just used the rears. Might put the fronts on to raise it a little as I cant have the IS lip on as I have knocked it off a few times!

Yes mate but i don't think it acurate as it was reading around 16 mpg at tick over earlier. Its still fitted with the 320 plug though so that won't be helping :)
