Hey Guys,
Pretty new to this forum. Its great to be honest. Im from Ireland but have a small problem - im trying to order a few parts for my E30 from Bmw like M3 top mounts, etc. and they say they wont get me the parts unless i give them a M3 chassis number. Could anybody maybe help me out?
Thanks.

What model M3 do you mean, as the common top mount mod is using E46 top mounts.

Oh sorry,
I meant the E30 M3 because i have the offset control arms to go on and I want to order another few bits but they said they need an M3 chassis number!

Tell them to stop being so pedantic and just order them for you. You only really need a chassis number for things like M3 badges.

Your problem was asking for 'M3' offset top mounts.
These mounts were never fitted as standard to an M3. Their official name is 'Camber correction top mounts'. They are listed for all E30 models (M3 or otherwise), so you should not need a chassis number for them. As their name suggests, they are to correct camber (after an accident for example).
I appreciate this doesn't help if you need to order something that is M3 specific, but these mounts should not be a problem. Your best bet if you dealer is going to be Anal is to contact a company called C3 (find the advert in the BMW mags). They can supply them, and probably for less money.
Cheers,
Ian.

The reason they might be asking for the M3 chassis number is so that they can be sure they are looking at the correct parts on the ETK, since you are asking them for M3 parts and parts can vary between models and years.
If you go in again and explain the part you are looking for you will probably have more luck. I have to say that I've been getting stuff from the local BMW dealers parts dept for years and never had any issues.
