The white plug in module just tells the dash if it is instslleed in a 4 / 6 cylinder car... never ever known of one go wrong.

Can't think of an obvious cure, but you need to check all the connections, did the service lights work OK? have the batteries leaked inside the cluster?
1 & 2 bed flats in Bournemouth areas, with parking

SI board batteries have been left without their charging current, and are susceptible to the present cold weather.
If you have the cluster out, take out the SI board and check the voltage of the two batteries.
Other possibilities are fuses 10, 12 and 21, all of which relate to the instrument cluster.
