Like the title says, over about 10 days, I've gone from 5 green lights to Oil Service...
Anyone know why?

and then when i start her up it shows just inspection light (with the circle with a quarter cut out of it light)
????
any ideas how i get rid of the inspection light? (i tried the shorting wire method and it didnt work.)

The green lights are different to the Clock Symbol....
The green lights are for servicing and the clock symbol is for the annual check/service where you should change the coolant etc
I think this is correct, but I don't know how to reset it!
Those draper reset tools are quite cheap on eBay I think...

I was gonna mention this....E30Mark wrote:But don't forget to do the work before you reset the lights
I'd rather have the red light on and know that I've done the work than not have done the work but have 5 green lights.
However, I think some people think the other way round!

To reset the annual light/inspection light- press and hold button on tool for 15 secs- release and repeat- dont worry if its got an led on the tool and it goes out ignore it hold for 15 secs- do twice for annual and inspection!

To look after my engine properly I would change the oil every 5 months or 5000 miles, whichever comes first (normally the 5000 miles!). Every other service do all the filters/plugs etc.
The engines we are using on the whole are 15+ years old, so it's worth doing more often for peace of mind.

Definately SI board batteries? - I know Inspection light comes on when my battery runs flat, which implies SI batts are FUBAR.
Just found it really weird that the lights were going so quickly!

i tried it karan and it didnt work for me
i put a piece of wire in 1 pin, and then other end in the other pin. turned the ignition on, on came the 5 green led's and the annual inspection light came on...i waited a few seconds (it says in the article it takes 3/4 seconds for the lights to come on, but for me they come instantly). then i switch off the ignition, disconnected the wire. turned the ignition on and up came the 5 led's and the annual inspection light.
so it didnt work lol. what was i doing wrong? and why does my lights come on instantly when in the article it says it takes 3/4 seconds

I can reset it no problem and I have the tool...
What I'm getting at is the fact that the service interval counted down over about a week!
