Has anyone on here taken apart diffs and swapped the internals about to change the ratio? I've got a few diffs at the moment and would like to try and put the gearing from an E34 diff into a E30 casing. Taken the E34 diff apart so far, next is to take the E30 diff apart and see if it looks like it can be done. Just wondering if anyones done this already? If so can you swap about small casing medium large casing internals if they physically fit?

cheers

Obviously not. Why not be the first and post the progress anyway seeing as you have a few diffs why not have a go winkeye

You definately can't put large case E30 diff internals into the small case diff as I tried it!! I ended up buying a brnad new crown wheel and pinion set from BMW!! I now need to order a new bearing too as I can't get the pinion bearing off the old shaft!

Problem with swapping diff internals between different cases is, the setting up of the thing is a specialist job.
But then, it didn't worry Colin Chapman.
