which light?

on my dash a red light has been on last week, im thinking its the light for the brake pads.

i got a chance to go and get some now. but to make sure, has anyone got a description chart for the dash lights so i know it is the brake light

Round circle with dashes at the sides.
You need to renew the pad sensor as well as the pads.
You should really look at the warning light as a reminder to check the pads rather than change them, per se, as the pad sensor can get damaged in other ways, and there is a well known cluster fault that can put the light on.

thanks brian. how much does a sensor cost? im not near a bmw dealer

Altenator light has the battery picture on it.
Sensor is about Ԛ£3, IIRC.
