so whats the deal with taking the old pull out stereo away and putting a new stereo in?

i was looking at it and thinking that looks complex. so any ideas?
am sure its easy but i want some advice before i start doing the usual and pulling wires out.

cheers people. thing is i dont want to be able to put the old one back in one day if i decide to do so.

cheers people.

You need a pair of what look like 'U' shaped bits of wire with a barb on the ends.
They fit in the two holes at each side of the stereo.

I've managed with just bits of wire a couple of mm in diameter pushed into the holes enough to release the set from the cage.

oh ok so is there another cage?

its just what bothers me is on the pull out stereo there is the massive plug at the back.
i assumed that took all the connecting wires so i wanted to what i need to do to convert all that?

its not what im used to.

The stereo will pull out of a rectangular cage which is fastened into your dash/cubby box by bending some tabs down in various places to retain it. The cage is standard to all stereos (CD players radios etc).

The plug may be a DIN fitting so may be common to a new replacement and just plug straight in.

great. should be nice and easy.
i just hate to start dismantling things if i think i will never have that goodness again.

standard stereo has good base!good quality. but i would like to bring it into the future a little bit.

also the 535i that i just bought has a cd player so i may borrow it? or just sell it on the bay?
