Hi there brand new to the world of bmw really love the e30 shape been reading up on them, got a really fantastic condition 91' 316 i lux thought it wud be perfect base for a nice engine swope, so would love everyones inputt on which is the simplest 6 cylinder to put in it, i fancy a 24v 2.8 from crappy e36 and i like the 3.0 and 3.5 from e28s im assuming i need gear box from the 5 and 325i engine mounts etc but e30 diff is best to use LSD wise

First off, welcome
The easiest 6cyl swap will be the M20 (2.0 or 2.5) from the E30, because the E30 came with that engine so all the parts are just E30 parts.
2.5/2.8 24v (M50/M52) or 3.0/3.5 (M30) swaps all involve a bit of work and cant really be described as simple.
Engine mounts will depend on what engine you go for - the M50/M52 swap mostly uses BMW parts whereas the M30 swap needs custom engine mounts.
Gearbox choice depends on what engine you go for, but its easier to get the correct box for the engine because most can be fitted into the E30.
Diff choice again depends on the engine/box that you go for, because different boxes have different ratios - LSDs are always a good thing though

Hi! And welcome.
Engine conversions also depend on how handy you are with a spanner / welder / hammer etc. , how much money you want to spend, how much time you have spare and how patient your wife / girlfriend is!
It would be worth spending a bit of time reading through some of the projects that have been completed or are in the process of being done in this engine swaps section.
Whatever you choose to do - good luck and keep us posted!

Welcome to the Zone fella.
Not done an engine swap myself (but planned loads in my head!) and the Zone is full of all the info you'll ever need to do one!
Decide what route you're going to go engine-wise, then do a search on here for info on that... that should be the easist way.
Where 'bouts you based anyway?
