No, i dont think that you can get longer one's. i have never heard of a seat belt being to short for a baby seat before......
I have a baby seat in the back of mine and there is more than enough for it.....

Are you using the front seat? If its all the way forward I sometimes struggle slightly with our carry/pushchair/carseat/rocker thing, just moving it back a few notches makes it easy.
Had about 5 or 6 carseats and never had one that wont fit

Tryed front and rear even had the southern rep from britax out and even he has said not all seats will fit in all cars, our first baby seat used to fit in our old e30 fine
but the britax web site does say our seat is not suitable for our car

if you are trying the front set the seat height as high as possible, this reduces the length of belt needed just a touch, worked for the carry cot in my e30
remember, LSD = baby puke

If that's the case then why are you risking your baby's life and trying to use it still? Does it specifically say that the seat is not compatible with your car?
The best thing to do is get yourselves down to Mothercare and get one that will fit the car properly, if it won't fit they won't sell it to you. They only had one 9+ months one that would fit my car, so that's the one I've got. It might cost a bit more, but my kids life hasn't got a price...

Get the little one a Recaro and start them off in the right direction. My lad loves his mini Recaro and it fits every car I've had it in up to now (e34, e46, e30, Mk2 Golf, e39, Ford Puma, Jag X type (some of those are the grandparent's cars...

)).

Quite right mate! My seat is the same fits in the back but wouldn't go in the front. (You didn't say that in the original post though...).

I was waiting for someone to insult someone else in tht respect but hats off to you for admitting

(joke)
I have to stick to older cars with no airbag in front as i need my son up front with me as i do a lot of motorway miles on our own.
