my mate is thinking of converting 318i S to 325i

will it be straight forward and what will need to be changed??

apart from

replace 318i S engine with 325i engine-complete i.e rad/starter/alternator/afm/etc all pipes etc
replace gearbox
replace ecu

whats the story with the loom, where will it need to be changed from--is it a wiring job or just plug and go??

could he leave the prop shaft and diff or will they need to be changed too??

how much Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£ is he looking at if he does it himself??

anything else need to be changed--fuel pump/brake servo

325i have computer his 318i S doesnt will this cause a problem??

no he's not an idot, his bottom end is gone so he has to replace it anyway, so a 325i enigne is a possible option to GET MORE POWER

Ahhhh that makes sense then !!!!

It is just a straight swap really.....

As far as i know, the wiring will just plug together. Not to sure about the propshaft, but if it has the LSD Diff, and it should, leave that in. He will need to change the front shocks and springs beacuse of the larger engine.

Should be pretty much a straight swap.

Wiring should just be a plug and play affair.
If the iS has the small case diff fitted, then it would be best to fit the larger 325i diff (LSD obviously winkeye ) The prop will most likely need changing for the 325i prop - the iS prop is longer IIRC.

Only the front springs should need changing for 6pot springs as the iS has the 51mm Mtech stuff fitted.

Fuel pump and brake servo etc are all the same.
