I went around to in laws over the weekend. My father-in-law has many projects on the go, most of them long term

.
This winter he has decided to continue on with 'project E30 318is'. With this in mind he needed to move 15 year old 'project E24 635 CSI'. With the help of 'project 1.9D Golf' we moved 'project Golf 2 16v', pulled 'project E24 635 CSI' out the one garage and back in another, at this point 'project 1.9D Golf' ran out of diesel. Once we added some more, out came 'project E30 318is' and was put back in 'project E24 635 CSI's' garage ready to be worked on. At this point '1.9D Golf' decided the clutch was about cooked and we gave up and had lunch. We did some tidying up after lunch and then couldn't start 'project Golf 2 16v' - a toad immobiliser was the problem [user error] and the Golf was quickly tucked back in the remaining garage.
What a day

Not sure TBH. The car belongs to my brother in law. It has had a ground up rebuild that car, taken years, but looks fantastic. A few tweaks along the way too ;). Sadly forsale now.............

I need some help with project 318is.
It has started to rot a bit on in the footwells, are there replacement panels available?

This project is on going, we are getting on ok - although little has been done through the very cold months. However we have a problem.
The front suspension is a mess, it needs new stuts. Other than new struts is there another option, or cheaper option. It is going to be lowered at the same time!?!?!?
Any suggestions, trying hard to keep the repair bill under £5k

Are you using the tried and tested 'close your eyes and hope for the best' method when you do the welding? Probably a good idea, 'cos I don't think I'd like to see what was going on if I was welding next to a 25L drum of cellulose thinners either

Quick update, pic's to follow.
The i.s is coming on a treat, the 635 looks the same though

.
He is feeling the pressure now and I think he is losing the will to live when it comes to 'projects'. So he is wondering what to do with the 6. Is there a market for 'projects'? It has been in storage since about 1992 and is rot free and pretty much original. It has had some repair work when he first got it but it all looks mint. The engine has done 70k - but it is a 12v mated to an auto box and the interior which is 'clean' [not mint] is the big comfy seats not the recaro's. Not the most desirable but a good shell and a worth engine??!!?!
Any thoughts?

Not a lot really other than the obvious it's been stood for years. If it were something I wanted to do - I would buy a rotten highline or M5 and do some swapping.
If you wanted to keep it original I imagine it would need a bit of a service engine/box/brakes/exhaust and the front end needs putting on and a bit of a clean.....

I also noticed this and am surprised the garage is still there at all. Lovely projects though.
