Gaffa tape is like "the force" - it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

No but its always good to ask questions and then question the answers you get. Except with the word "why?" all the f@uckin time!!! or "how about now"!!

what's a dual mass flywheel all about then, i've got a 18is an was thinking about lightening the flywheel on a spare one but was a bit concerned about losing torque low down so the dual mass one helps in what way?

Normal flywheel is a single lump of metal, and the clutch disc that goes with it is fitted with springs between the friction material and the drive splines to dampen out loads on the drive train when engaging the clutch.kevo wrote:what's a dual mass flywheel all about then, i've got a 18is an was thinking about lightening the flywheel on a spare one but was a bit concerned about losing torque low down so the dual mass one helps in what way?

Dual mass flywheel transfers the springs from the clutch plate to the flywheel. The two parts of the flywheel are coupled together by a spring, and the clutch plate is plain.
The supposed advantage is that the length of travel of the spring is much greater, and can accommodate much less skilled drivers.
