Hi peeps just a very quick one , just got myself a 325 , am suffering a bad idle , what i want to know is : Should my tps sensor on bottem of throttle body click when i move the throttle [ignition on but not running]

I have 2 x 320's , they both click so im guessing the 325 should too.
If this is the prob does anybody know if the sensors are the same part number for both models cos if so i can just swap over ?

Any help would be sweet Cheers Jibbers :D

Yeah, there's a micro switch in there that clicks when the throttle opens, and another one which contacts when you reach wide open throttle :)

The TPS sensors that I have spare came off a 320i, 525e and a 325i and although they all have different numbers they are identical in operation and internal components.

Have you tried loosening the 2 screws and adjusting the position of the switch ?. If so swap 'em.

Cheers,

There's a threaded grub screw that sets how far back the throttle position goes. You can wind this back a bit. If you then start hearing the click then its all solved.

Otherwise loosen the bottom two mounting screws for the sensor and rotate the sensor, you'll hear a click. Its rare for the micro switch to actially go.

Hope this helps
