Guys,

Gonna have a 2.7 engine rebuilt before it goes in the car and want some more info on lightening/balancing.

Did a search and found this post clicky which helped a bit, but could use more info!!
Don't want this to turn into a should/shouldn't debate!!

I know basics, but not details.
Car is going to be mainly for fast road use and occasional track use.

So what exactly do i get balanced and lightened??

Can anyone recommend somewhere to do this job??

Any ideas on what it should cost me??

Do i need to give them specs or do they work it all out??

Cheers.

if you use pistons/rods that didn't come from the factory with the crank you are using it will help to make it rev smoother and somewhat minimise out of balance forces. All they do is grind small amounts here and there from the crank counterweights and/or rods/pistons and what not.

Also get your crank pulley/harmonic balancer and front pulley balanced as complete set. Do the same with the clutch and flywheel assembly.

By all accounts, VibrationFree (think it's vibrationfree.co.uk) are supposed to be very good.

No idea how much they'd charge, but I gather that you supply them with your engine in bits and they do the rest.

Guess though that if it goes to them in bits it's gonna cost a LOT of money!
