I need a close up pic of the rear beam please. Bit i need is where the subframe bush pushes in from

Just pressed mine out and someones been there before, and used brute force and ignorance to do the job

The inside is really heavily scored and on the outer edge there are cuts and chunks missing :x

Gonna repair with my trusty welder (unless this is a big no-no?) but could do with a pic to help me along!

Cheers,
Matt

grooves look like someone has had to drill a bush out in the past.

if it was mine i'd be happy filling what i could of the grooves with weld and filing smooth.

Daz, does your beam flare out at the bottom or is it straight all the way down?

Cheers for input Mr P :)

Bloody hell, why did they stop at drilling and not try dynamite? Can't believe they drilled them out like that

Good luck getting the welder in there, MIG torch will be a bugger to angle into that. Stick might do it? If I had a spare subframe you'd be welcome to it mate

How's it going otherwise or daren't I ask :duck:

Permission to cry

Nah its not that bad, im just shattered and filthy!

The pictures kinda show the point im up to, chuffed how well the removal tool worked!

The brake lines up by the T piece were a corroded solid, had to cut them and cut the springy bracket thingy to remove them - good job ive have some quality replacements lined up

Since i didnt know what to do with the beam i attacked the under side in preperation for painted, found a few scabs but its pretty clean, need to decide if im gonna paint it black or white........... somehow i dont think its going to back on the road for Monday!!

Matt, did you make that tool yourself? If so, Im giving you a big hand for your effort! I was planning up my own bush removal tool the other week and in my minds eye, I've got something very similar to what you've cooked up/bought. If you've bought it, where did you get it from.

It looks stainless.... and u seem like you're handy with the welder, which is why i thought you may have made it. If so...

Cheers dude, 100% home made - well kinda

Robbed and modified a few stainless bits from the conduit section at work, robbed a few mild steel bits from around the shopfloor and asked kindly if i could program some more bits up on the turret punch

Took it home and welded it all up, took it back to work and used the air sanders to clean it up - attention to detail 'n all :D

Used an old bearing casing for the inserting part - pics when ive proved that bit works

Spent ages working out how it was suppose to work, took a lot a guessing!!

Correction - that remover tool is the Tits dude. Nice bit of fab work!!! Works a treat by the looks of it. Perhaps you should hire it out on the zone

That subframe and arm assembly looks much better than mine when I dropped it off. Pretty clean IMHO. The handbrake cables survived too; I bet they were a git to get out of the rear arms?

What bushes are you using - are you doing the trailing arms as well?

P.s. If you need those hoses then I can send you them for Tuesday.

Yeah sure, just give me about 6 months to recover from this one

The drivers side handbrake cable was an utter bitch, had to keep referring to that guide you sent me to make sure i was doing it right, passenger side practically fell out!

Trailing arm bushes look good, i have some Febi subframe bushes to go back in. Slight cause of concern, the bushes i have just taken out have exactly the same markings as the ones going in - and they don't look that old and they aint in that great condition...... :?

Make it so my friend :thumb:

My g.f finds it highly amusing that i am getting compliments on my tool....... 8O
