'As of 2001, there are just 1687 UK 318is left registered with the DVLA in the UK - I guess Ireland has only about 150. I would therefore calculate that there are only ~15-20,000 E30 318is left roadworthy in the whole world - making them nearly as rare as E30 M3's!'

Regarding costs: the biggest cost of car ownership is depreciation. Most cars, even older ones, loose between Ԛ£500 and Ԛ£2000 per YEAR. Get your head around that. For example, people buy a car for Ԛ£4000 and sell it 2 years later for Ԛ£2000, if they are lucky. That's the worst investment they ever made. It's like putting your money in a savings account that pays -15% interest. That's where the iS scores big time . I bought my iS 2 years ago for Ԛ£1300 and I could sell it today for Ԛ£1300 . Very very few cars can achieve zero depreciation. My iS is saving me Ԛ£100 per month in depreciation. What a great car

I agree IS 's are a great investment .The last IS i bought cost me Ԛ£160, i fragged it to Ԛ£1370!, in fairness it did have mint 15"BBS and a nice black leather trim !

pete, i was offerd 2 and a half bags for it, and to be honest i should have taken it ( the deal was that i got the scuttle sorted !)

but going on th the values of them, it varies so much as some people do not know how rare they are and sell them cheap. quite a few have fallen into the wrong hands a are totally shagged and aint even worth buying to frag.
