I am not sure if you would call this technical or not...
I need to replace the front spoiler on my 318is. The ETK seems to list two parts under the front spoiler:
Front apron 51 71 945 559
Front spoiler 51 71 968 488
The front apron seems to be smaller than the spoiler (depth wise) and I wondered if could be used instead and would avoid the problems I have had of the spoiler catching on kerbs etc - which has led to its demise. Or perhaps the front apron is something else all together?

The first part is the standard E30 front lip - the even-depth, thinner black one.
