juddery wipers
Moderator: martauto
Clearalex is just a granular cleaner for the wash bottle, usually found at filling stations but any good glass cleaner should do.I reccomend changing the wipers every 6 months, often neglected, they also mark the windscreen eventually with grit building up on the rubber.

priracing.co.uk have some pretty cool looking silicon wipers I,ll try them next time.but seriously though traffic film and even certain waxes cause this problem the screen needs to be really clean, alcohol such as head cleaning fluid for tape decks is another good grease buster. Some forecourt washes even supply an alcohol wipe thingy to get the wax off the screen after the wash. That juddery noise is a real pain in the a$!se!.

If this juddering is on one of the continuous wipe settings, then the problem is a worn output shaft bearing on the motor.
The conversion from a left hand drive design to right hand drive leaves the motor spindle exposed to the elements, and it wears badly.
There are motors from other makes of car that can be used, and since they are usually better protected, and the car they are in reaches the scrapyard in half the mileage of a BMW, they are usually OK.
Because of the position of the wiring connectors on these motors, the bulkhead under the motor may need a little "adjustment" with a hammer.

Can't remember! I collected several various likely looking candidates from a scrapyard, and found a couple that would fit.
Think one might have been from an Audi, but I'm not sure.
Have a good look at an E30 motor, than scour a scrapyard or two.
The fitting problem was that most motors have a socket mounted on the motor instead of the flying lead with a socket on the end like the E30 has. It's the socket that fouls the bulkhead.
Couple of extra washers under the motor helps, and you will need the plug off the donor car and the lead off the E30 motor to make an adaptor lead.

i'v noticed that the wipers on all of the E30's i've had feel like those on a real classic car!
are the E30 wiper motors slower than most others? the E34 we have, and several cheap peugeots we've had all have much faster and stronger wipers than my E30, which is cary as the E30 is by far the fastest car i've had since a 180bhp mk2 escort (which had terrifying wipers!!!!!)
