Seems to be happening more and more now :(

Are they just easier to get into or is it just a "cool" car to steal?

then again its so easy to dismantle and flog the bits on ebay or even on here

but more and more there is pointless vandalism and its gutting as you cant even claim on your insurance now as the premiums will rocket

what has happened to yours? if more than one, vote for the worst thing thats happened

Hubby's 318i had the door jemmy'd and the glove box torn down at the sides as it was locked and had his credit card stolen in a separate incident.

the silver 318i had the rear passenger door keyed, aerial pinched.

though one night after a very long day, mark left the car with the keys in the door and it was still there the next day!

Rear quarter light smashed and attempted theft which involved ripping the steering column from it's mountings???

Braindead B*STARDS missed the highly visible keypad for the immobiliser which prevented them from getting any further!!!
I'm not completely perfect.......there are some bits missing or broken.
But the weather here helps!!!

I accidentally left my car unlocked overnight last week on the street outside my house. Luckily it was there the next day.

I've been the good samaritan before when I noticed some fella had left his 320i with the keys in the boot lock in his driveway. It's so easy to do. I suppose fitting a decent alarm system with a remote closure fob would solve the problem.

Burning car thives at the stake might help too. :x

Not vandalised while we've had it, but now we're sorting the car out it looks like the previous owner REALLY ABUSED it. Huge gauge in the drivers wing, random bolts holding the engine together, exhaust held on by bathroom sealent and looking through the reciepts its had drivers side windows replaced, drivers door lock and ignition changed which says to us that it's been butchered at by some lower level being at some point.

So while we've had the beemer we've been lucky but it has been abused in the past.
Im carless, BUT, hope to remedy that fairly soon, plus, need to actually be able to drive first so that gets priority!!

I love the idea of a huge guage in the drivers wing. What does it measure? :)

thats enough to make you cry :(

My E30s have both been fine so far. Had a Fiat Coupe nicked (they got the keys) and then found by the plod over a year later (well, actually it was found by the council who sent me a letter warning me that they would tow it cos the tax had expired). Returned in reasonable nick minus the radio which they'd yanked out hard enough to cut through the insulation on the cables and short it all out. Turns out the brake lights are on the same fuse.....

My first E30 a 316 was a theft recovery, so that would fall in the "Car stolen, never recovered" option but I didnt own it until after it was recovered and the insurance company had paid out and it was heading to auction

Buster that must have broke your heart to find it like that!

I remember years ago,guy who lived a few doors down from me(in Manchester),had a mint S1 RS turbo, always polishing it etc - I walked past one day and saw it,absolutely covered in paint stripper? and him stood behind it actually crying!
He reckons it happened cause it had about 3 alarms on it,a big chain around the drive gates and a car blocking the drive on the road, pure jealousy cause they couldnt nick it,retarded cnuts

I had my sport broken into in at a mates house in Brixton a few years back, no real damage but they got away with my cd changer, about 17 cds and one of my bbs center caps.
I empty the whole car now of anything now (valuable or not) when i am round there.
Little fuckers, you just wanna catch um at it, well i do  :x

I've got a bizzare theft story

I used to have a F plate royal blue 318i I used for spares. it was registered off road with the DVLA at my address and kept in the private car park at the back of my flat. To be honest, it was nearing the end of it's usefulness, but there were still a few bit I needed from it. Got back from work one day and it was gone. Strange thing is, it can't have been stolen (i.e driven away) cos it was missing various parts of the engine like the sump, ICV, various hoses. It had no battery and the brakes were seized on. It was also really ugly, not the kind of car peple would want to steal!

Whoever took it must have somehow got it onto the back of a towtruck or transporter. This in itself it quite unbelieveable, as the entrance into my car park is a challenge for a transit van, let alone anything bigger. Only thing I can think of is they must have unseized the brakes, broken the steering lock then pushed the car out the car park to a waiting truck.

Plot thickened when i talked to my neighbours - one of them told me that the council had been round uplifting an abandoned car just a couple of days before and they had been sniffing about my E30 with their clipboards.

So i called them, but they flat denied that they had anything to do with it.

in the end i had to report the car stolen to the police. When the officer came round, he agreed it was a farce - the council most likely took it and crushed it, then realised that it had been legally declared SORN afterwards. So they simply held their hands up and said "wasn't us guv".

Saved me the bother of scrapping it myself, but every time something goes on my car I always think "dammit, I could've had that off the spares car"

so what happened then ??
I'd have screwed the council for the money.Theyd soon screw you over for parking in a wrong bay or in a NOn permit zone blah blah blah ,you get the point.

I figured there's nothing I could do about it, and the policeman seemed to be in agreement - if the council aren't going to admit they took it and I have no witnesses that saw it actually happen then it's my word against theirs.

it has crossed my mind recently though that under the freedom of Information act, maybe I could get them to provide me with a list of all the locations visited by their environmental wardens on that day and see if it mentions my address... dunno if thats the kind of stuff we're allowed access to though

R S holes....

Had my rear window smashed and stereo nicked a few months back, always keep the car garaged as a rule, but a neigbour who was moving asked to borrow it for a couple of days, and first night i leave it out, bang. Needless to say it is now locked away again every night.

That paint stripper job is enough to make you cry...

We had a ford escort taken like this! parked on the grass outside the in-laws house to be used for spares, up on axle stands as the wheels had good tyres and were put on the orion we had, the council took it while we were at work, admitted to it saying they had a load of complaints about it being an eysore (had been there a few weeks) but totally denied taking the 4 brand spanking new axle stands it was sitting on!

the car had no wheels yet they were adamant it was not sitting on stands when they took it!

So did anything happen after that? If they admitted to taking it did they compensate you/return the car... or are the council allowed to just tow away and destroy anything that has been labelled an "eyesore"?

If so, then I have a neighbour that drives a rover 400 series, sprayed gold (badly), -80mm drop all round, 5 inch exhaust pipe, spinning hubcaps, rally mudflaps, you get the picture. If me and enough of my mates start reporting it as an eyesore could we get the council to come round and crush it? That would be nice.

My four-door was broken into, nicked, joyridden until the head blew, then kicked in.
I voted "vandalised" since I've taken it apart for bodyshell repair, and not put it back together yet...
