Anyone had this happen? Just put the beast back on the road today after changin a few bits, diff, brakes all round, wishbones and bushes, timing belt and tensioner, fan and steering belts, sparkplugs, rocker gasket, wheel beirings all round and droplinks all round. Drove it like Miss Daisy for a spell just to make sure everything was kosher, all was fine so i got to a straight road that stretches for a good bit and its got traffic lights at the start of it to let motors of the m/way so yer always guaranteed a standin start, anyway i sunk the boot and woohoo what a fookin rooooar!! lovely buiscits!! but when i let off to change gear the motor veered to the left, into second roared some more (mmmm more lovely buiscuits) and when i let off to change it happened again. Its not a particularly violent affair but nevertheless a wrongness. Apart from that the beast drives perfectly. Anyone??

8O

Some sort of friction whilst not under power. Brake binding somewhere, tracking? :?

Remember, there's room for two more here if you need to take the old girl off the road for some fine fettling winkeye

Best luck sorting it - anything I can do. Just ask

If you've changed the wishbones then it probably needs the tracking to be adjusted....

I'm sure we've all made a rather embarrassing mechanical faux pas!

I once built a Nissan 200sx engine, fitted it, got about quarter of a mile up the road before death rattle!

I hadn't done up the big end nuts! :o: :o: :o:

I don't know why I'm admitting this sort of stuff on here, I'm going away now!

i know someone who had a brand new engine fitted on a transit by ford, it got 200 yds up the road before siezing. 8O apparently they last longer if you remember to put oil in and plug the oil presssure sender in! :D

I once worked at a main dealer where a very good and experienced technician was changing a head gasket.
Head off.
Old gasket off.
Head on and all parts fitted up.
Water in - leaking everywhere.
He turned round to see the new head gasket still on the bench! 8O
