All,

My 318is has just developed a touch of wheel wobble when breaking from about 40mph felt through the steering wheel.

The car still stops ok,

What is this likely to be?

Brakes are they wearing a touch thin?

or

Ball Joint/Wishbone arm bush?

Any help advice would be great as I need to get stuck in at the weekend!

Cheers

Gareth

Hi GBE30, If you getting a vibration all the time then the wheels need balancing BUT if the wheel wobbles while braking, i think my first port of call would be the brakes, either the pads have worn out unevenly or the discs themselves are warped. Check them out first.

If the brakes were at fault, you'd feel it through the brake pedal. If it's just through the steering wheel it's more likely ball-joint related, as you suggest.

Almost definitely control arm bushes, but check ball joints thoroughly before you put the new bushes on, as they can't be taken off again.
