eko show me a 'good one' that hasn't had more hits than the Beatles or been up more tree's than Tarzan for 600 quid and i'll buy iteko wrote:theyll be one less as from next week![]()
although helping many others live on!
Good one IMO is anything from Ԛ£600-2000 depending on spec etc.
Personally from watching the E30 market closely for a good while now i would say you would have to be very lucky and very quick to buy a tidy one with sensible miles for under the 1k mark!

well i picked up a very tidy sterling silver one about a month ago for a mte,103k miles, history upto 92k,2 owners, toad alarm/cd player etc and it is very very tidy, only small patch of lacquer peel on the bonnet,scuttle/rear valance/arches etc are mint and untouched!
Ԛ£600 with 6 months tax but only 2 months MOT,passed MOT last week first time with not even a check over.

We've all found cheap cars but talking about the 'norm' i still think the average 'Joe' will be looking at 1k plus.

There are quite a few E30's that the owners just regard as an old beemer thats probaly worth feck all
I know of a minter-Red/Black sport leather/tec2 wheel/15"BBS`s etc,old guy owns it and its been stood in his garden about 2 years at least that i know of.SPADGE wrote:Result then fellaeko wrote:^for a mate, was in the freeads for Ԛ£700,knocked him down cause slave cylinder was leaking and only 2 months MOT![]()

hmm. nice car when up together.
a really nice one with good history, with no problems that drive very well will pull around Ԛ£1750.
a turd with, millege, body issues, no mot etc is worth less than Ԛ£500

kos' one is, i would say, in the top 5 of iS's on the zone, and someone offered him 3K for it...
i paid ?1400 for mine, and it did need some work doing to it, however, i knew it had been looked after all its life. sonce i've owned ive probably spent about ?500 maintaining it, but thats being merciless and buying everything from dealers and buying more than had to, to do the job properly
i'll have my new engine in in about 6 months, and then i'll wonder what mines worth!!!

Mine still needs a little work but I'd be happy to take 1400 for it when complete.
IMO an is is a poor mans sport. Not dissing them just saying it's a model with a good spec just not got the luxuries of the sports.
1400 will buy you a good is on average miles and good bodywork. You have to accept the usual knocks and scrapes, they are at their youngest 15/16 yrs old now.
tbh the value of my car is owning it and enjoying it, I'm happy in the knowledge I'm not going to be losing 000's of pounds when I come to sell it in a couple of years later like I would if I had bought a car for Ԛ£8000 and not Ԛ£800!
and agreed many many is's seem to still be alive but living under a cat b/c? I know my mates is and a few I've looked into buying have been and the price has been way too much! Ԛ£500 for an accident damaged cat b which should of been crushed? bargain of the century! or maybe not

well mine is good, as most who've been to meets has seen, not great spec and I need to get that bl**dy quarter panel sprayed but it is certainly very staight and genuine, I take good care of it and don't plan to sell it any time soon.
Agree that you'll be looking at Ԛ£1200-Ԛ£1800 for most that people here would consider, if you are lucky and find one from some one who does not know what they have then you could pay less.

I (my dad really) bought my iS 11 1/2 years ago, paying just under 6k for it, which at the time was a decent price, as some were going for as much as 7k back then. It was 1 owner from new with se skirts, 6 button obc and tech 2 rear boot jobby as extras, in pretty mint nick. Today, wouldn't know where to start in terms of price as i've never thought about selling it (not going to either). It needs some minor things, and just my new secondhand engine putting in, which has 116k.
Gotta be worth at least a 1k
I've seen some go for peanuts, but there are some really good examples out there, that fetch good money too. Some in excess of 2k easily.

I think it is getting more difficult to categorise prices now as the remaining cars out there are a mix bag of conditions / specifications / modified etc.
I would expect a minter with stacks of history to easily fetch around Ԛ£2k plus but otherwise it's just down to the individual car. I have two cars at the moment which are the same age and mileage and are in similar condition but I managed to get the second car for probably a third of the value of the first car as it is a lower spec example with little or no history.
It also helps if the person selling it knows nothing about the car (it was a trader in this instance). I managed to knock Ԛ£250 off due to the engine running rough (because It's a bmw, expensive to fix etc etc), when all that was wrong with it was the pipes under the inlet manifold starting to perish which cost about Ԛ£15 to fix (I recognised the symptoms from my other car).

Gaffa tape is like "the force" - it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffer tap
