In the drivers side rear wheel arch I can see a bottle with pipes leading to it. Can someone tell me what its for?

Cheers

Assuming you have a touring, it must be the rear wiper-wash.

It is part of the fuel tank breather system, but there's no Carbon involved in that part.

Cars with a CAT in the exhaust will usually have a carbon canister in the engine bay though.

The bottle connects all the various vent pipes from the fuel tank and filler neck together and then vents to the open air by a pipe that runs along side the fuel lines under the car and ends in a rubber tube that should be tucked inside the reinforcemect structure for the front left suspension turret.
