right this is the story, not long untill the big project gets underway now, just want to clear a lot of issues up as soon as possible really... where do i start ? WIRING :?

I have no idea yet STILL that my 4-pot wiring loom will be sufficient enough to be compatable with the m30 wiring harness. Im unaware if i have to buy a 325 loom etc.... I really do need some big help on this topic fella's regarding what wire goes where, will my loom be ok, pictures and lots of. Thats it for now but im sure ill be back to annoy and amuse you all with my stupid questions, please excuse me, like i said im a bit :hammer: :D

plug it in and it should run and drive ok m8.

you will need to change a couple for the swingometer petrol consumtion thingy to work and also for the unloder relays

dek the only words i understood were "thingy" and "to" :P , i fcuking really dence fella's i really do need BIG help here, basically ive got to plug my existing loom into the m30 one yes? then what MODS do i need to make to make everything work as it should, temp etc... thanks and sorry :mad:

do a search matey! there was a thread around january this year where me and bigdek were talking to brianmoore and the swingometer thingy problem was covered. it was in this section of the forum.

to get it fired up, you will need to simply swap the engine looms over (i lift mine entirely on the engine). the connector is the fat (2" diameter ish) one next to the servo. the M30 loom plugs in here, connects to the M30 ECU (under the dash, one big connector), the coil connections are obvious (i left the coil connected too!). the only other bist to sort are to connect the brown wires in the loom to an earth and the red ones to the battery. these are located near the battery tray.

once this is all done, the engine should start. the fine details can then be dealt with afterwards, all that will happen straightaway is that the blower fan and electric windows will wonlt work with the door open. also the ecomomy swingometer won't work but you might want to look at that anyway! 8O

don't lose any sleep over it, once you (or your mate) get started, it's all fairly self evident. :D

so the loom inside the car where my e30 ecu is, i simply remove the ecu box and replace it with an m30 one, straight in? no messing / modding

no you use the complete loom from the m30 which includes the wires that go to the ecu.

you can still fit the ecu in the same place but you will likely need to turn it around for the plug to reach

You can also use a M20 loom ;)
just need to splice the cover where the TPS and AFM cables are hidden and route them to the
new afm and tps location,

you might have to use the e30 brown temp sender for the water,,, i had to on my s38

once you start pulling it out, it will all be very obvious! i promise! just remember to wrap a piece of insulating tape over each connector that you remove and label it (waterproof marker!). if you don't know thefunction, 'a', 'b', 'c' ec will help things a lot!
the engine loom pokes through the bulkhead in a large grommet behind the battery and then runs to the ECU. the other connections are in the engine bay. there are 2 empty connectors on both the M30 and M20 loom that i think are for the autobox. these are leftemp i had to mess about with the ECU mount like mensioned above. one thing to note is that you'll need to make sure that the loom doesn't pull tight over the tops of the pedals. a few cable ties will help keep it safe.

get stuck it, it'll be fun! :D

i very much doubt that if you get stuck one of us can't help out next time we're online! just take lots of pics with a digital camera for reference later. keep a notebook in the glovebox and write down everything that you assume you will remember later, in case you don't!

also, write a shopping list of every little part you need as and when you think of it as you'll be trying to remembe 50 things at once and you'll make a lot of trips to the dealers otherwise.

incidentally, if you're going to the dealers for anything, you'll be amazed at how cheap some parts are. i replaced all of the guibo and diff nuts, bolts and washers as i've broken them before :eek: and it only cost a few quid. they're often much higher grade than the cheap bolts you can get from places like halfords. the 'crimped' nuts are meant to be replaced each time you use them (like nylocks) but are only about 12p!

Hey m8s, sorry for digging out this old thread, bud I need some help.
My project 335 is on the move, need to get the wiring diagram for m30b35 (from e23 735 automatic '86) and for m20b20 with jetronic (from e20 320 manual '86) to combine them togather... or maybe some other useful info...

I looked there but the diagrams are awailable only for cars from year 87 and newer, can't find anythning for m20 with jetronic :crutch:
