Has anyone ever had to buy HT Leads for their M42? No. 4 on my car is bit dodgy so i've been looking around for some new 'uns.

My mate can get me a full set for around £85 (but they ain't genuine) or BMW will sell individual leads for about £28+VAT each.

So next question: is it ok to replace one lead out of 4 or should you replace the full set in one go?

Anyone recommend good brand leads that are cheap?

I'd stick with the std BMW ones
Don't see why you can't replace just one lead, I did this on my crx and it was fine
Cheers,
Robin

You must check they are all performing well but its not much of an issue to change just one.

I thought i'd stick with BMW ones but just wasn't sure whether replacing one was a good idea. Never replaced HT leads on a car so i've got no experience.

Mods: does someone want to move this to the technical section please? More appropriate there.

Ԛ£130 is a bit more than i fancied forking out right now. Reckon at the moment that one new 'un from BMW sounds like the favourite.

Bob,

I have a 2nd hand set of leads if your interested... in fact i think i have 2 sets!

If you want just want #4 lead let me know, i'm willing to split the set, as i know for a fact that one set has a split insulator on #1. That is the reason i changed the leads on my iS when i first bought it.

Got my leads from GSF, from memory were about Ԛ£80 and genuine parts.

Before i commit to buying new leads can someone tell me what the best way to test them is?

Reason i'm thinking something is amiss was i had the cam cover off at the weekend and when i put that back on i just checked i had the right leads connected to the coil packs. Just checked the leads with a beeping multimeter and 1, 2 & 3 all beeped while 4 didn't. Therefore i assume there's something wrong. But the car still runs fine so i'm confused.
