:x

OK, I'll start from the beginning...

With the recent nice weather, I decided to do a couple of the visual mods I've been planning for the (totally standard) E30, namely painting the front bumper to bring it up to date a bit (or make it look a little "Sport") and painting the eyebrows (to make it look that bit meaner ) that've been lying around in the garage for months and putting them on...

So Thursday the primer goes on and Friday the eyebrows and bumper are painted, out comes the Marvin Medium and the brows are on the car....looks the business but car's due a good polish.

A nice Saturday comes and the car gets a good wax, is now looking absolutely beautiful on the driveway....but as it's blocking my parents' cars and I don't like other people driving it I decide to park it outside on the road...

Sunday afternoon I go out to the car to find that someone's hit the o/s wing during the night and just driven off :x

It's got a small dent and a few scratches but the worst thing is that the o/s grille is now noticeably misaligned (as opposed to only slightly before), and so the brows look totally out of place.

Some of the paint has also been chipped off the bumper, so it just looks like some sort of badly modified mess.

I'm feel stupid as I chose to park it on a corner on the road (although not a busy road at all, ours and neighbours' cars have always been parked there and one's never been hit) rather than on the driveway, and the only reason I didn't put it in the garage where it normally lives in the summer to save it from going totally pink is due to the fresh coat of wax

Even worse is the fact that the other wing was painted only a few weeks ago after a muppet in a Saxo went into it

I'm starting to think this is some kind of punishment for messing with a car that looked pretty much perfect as standard :(

Sorry about the long post, I just need somewhere to vent my anger....I've been avoiding the Zone for a couple of days as even thinking about E30s has been making my blood boil

I'm all right now though....sedatives worked a treat

Oh and before anyone posts
:ttiwwp:
I'll get a pic or two up later so everybody can see how much of a mess my E30 is :(

 I just hope the idiot who did it feels guilty and doesn't sleep for a thousand years.

Tough break, but not the E30's fault, see if you can get a new wing in the right colour and swap them over

Sorry to hear that dude. It seems to be happenning a lot lately. I took my blue convertible for a service at the weekend. They asked me to park on the road until a couple of the cars they were working on had left (Again not a busy road) I went for some lunch, came back an hour later and someone had crashed into the offside of the front bumper. The end result is a badly scratched front pumper, a cracked front wing along the flared joint and a cracked side skirt. It also got keyed trhe other day. 1st the person keyed half the car, then came back the following week and keyed the other half to finish the job. I wasn't going to say anything and just get it repaired, especially because of all the crap going on with the Rieger, but thought i'd mention it as it's happend to you too. I hope i never catch anyone damaging my car one day cause i will do time for them and i really mean that :x

Right, i'm up for collecting up all the drunks, chavs & general brain dead and re-instating national service. Send them all off for a nice trip to the moon or something

Why do so many people think they can get away with so much, time to seek revenge

Booty, sorry to hear you've got more trouble with your cars :-x

I'm just tired of the whole thing now mate. I had so much trouble doing both cars that when they were done, i thought "YES, I CAN FINALLY SIT BACK & ENJOY", bout i'm still spending money like a fool fixing bits that other twats think it's ok to damage just for fun. A friend has offered me Ԛ£5k for the car, i might just let him have it just to get some quiet. Cause i dont really drive that car at all really, it just sits there is is a target for all the haters that think "FCKUING WAN@ER WITH 3 CARS" but when i get up at 5 in the morning, work all day, then go and work on the door all night as well, they dont see it or say anything, yet they want to hate cause you have 3 cars. Like i said, if i ever catch anyone in the act of doing any damage to any of my cars "I WILL HURT THEM & ENJOY IT TOO" Gosh i'm sounding like a nutter, which i'm not. I just dont understand why anyone will key a car that's just been resprayed for fun

must be a bad e30 week as someone hit mine in a m class merc in a car park, fortunately i was close by and went outside to see the woman (sorry but it was) on her phone just after reversing into my car then i am sure had i not gone over to her she would have driven off. damaged grills and bumper pushed back about half inch, front valance pushed down a bit.

really hate these type of people, she said aww dont worry about it, it is only a plastic grill and wanted to leave, thus i am sure she would have driven off. so her insurance can fix the lot and all the scratches anywhere around the front of my car caused by others!

sod em

I hate these people too, I had to get rid of my E36 convertible because someone hit it in traffic, shunted me intot he car in front, they then drove off scraping the side of the car in front. We had 3 witnesses but the police did nothing. I had to sell as the insurance co wanted 2000 for 1 years insurance!
Previous to that my Mondeo was scraped in a car park requiring a rebuild of the rear quarter.

Now my wife works at tesco, the mondeo has been hit 3 times in a couple of months, the last time it was hit was 2 days after having the bumper changed as it had a hole in it, now it has another crack!

I wont let her take my E30 Cab there. But my E30 got hit twice in one week, scratched on the rear bumper and then someone totaled the front bumper.

I have finally got the parts to repair it, I will have serious nightmares hoping it doesn't get hit again.

We should be allowed to shoot all hit and run drivers :shoot1:

Yes Bootyman you have hit the nail on the head, these mindless people who think they can go around doing damage to your pride and joy.I get it all the time having 5 beemers myself, you get comments like you can't drive all them at once so what's the point of having that many. The point being their my passion that's all I spend my hard earnt money on.If it wasn't BMW'S it would be some other car no doubt. They just hate to see others having possiblely what they cannot afford.Your not having much luck lately yourself but hang on in there don't let the b------d's get you down.

it's a real shame all this stuff going on to our cars, why can't these people key up all the new heaps of sh!te under warranty?

Do they think well it's old the owner probably doesn't care?

Or,

If i do it to a new car the owner will rip my head off?

You might think "So what? It's only a little knock" but when you manage to keep a car mint for 14 years apart from an unavoidable patch of rust or two, and someone makes a mess of it, it does get, er, slightly annoying :x

Exactly what I mean....if you have a car 10 years you do start to care about it
E30Mark wrote:see if you can get a new wing in the right colour and swap them over
I wish it was that easy...

1) The front of the car's now totally misaligned, as you can see by the huge gap above the o/s eyelid.
2) I've got these random stickers going down the side of the car that would have to be made specially.

I would repaint the wing myself avoiding the stickers (although I think it might be bent), but how much is the misalignment going to cost me to sort out?
In the last few months I've had 2 tyres slashed costing me Ԛ£124, the muppet who drove his Saxo into me cost me 90 quid to repair/paint the other wing and is now trying to blame me for it so if he succeeds and they do go "mixed fault" I don't even know if I can really afford insurance come renewal time (in May), and now this.

I guess I could leave it as it is but then I'd be driving a shed like all those neglected E30s rather than the mint car that me and everyone in the family have tried so hard to keep it

Some might say I'm over-reacting but with these various "setbacks" I can see the point where I just won't want to, or won't be able to afford to throw any more money at the car to fix things that could've been avoided :(

it has made me really sad reading these stories - i really feel for all of you as i know exactly how it feels.

my father always says - 'it's always someone else that ruins it for you.'

my question is - why do these things always happen at a time when funds are a little tight? they never seem to happen just after a windfall.

living where i do i budget a thousand a year for vehicle vandalism. how sad is that?
