Hello,
My vehicle has started to overheat checked coolant pipes and found both sides of the radiator pipes very hot and radiator is stone cold so i suspected the radiator was block i have try to bleed the coolant system that is all ok,but i did notice when i rev the vehicle the temperature gauge comes down when overheating and radiator starts getting hot but vehicle is still overheating when idleing.
Many thanks in advance..............

Viscous fan, water pump???
Does it only overheat when idling - what about when on the move?
What have you done about the rad if you think its blocked? Rads are meant to be changed at 100k AFAIK.

Hello again,
I have swapped the viscous fan from my other bm (still overheating)
I have removed the radiator and flush it out that all o.k.
The vehicle overheats when idling only not when driven.
When the vehicle is running the radiator stays cold then only until i rev the vehicle up the radiator starts to get hot..........
What kind of job is it to replaced the timing belt and water pump......

You may first want to swap the thermostat, if only to remove that as a variable and it's very easy and cheap, and relatively unreliable.

Gotta go with the thermostat first, but i'd deffo put money on it being the water pump!!! Had that exact thing before and it took bloody ages to work out what the hell was going on!!! (Long before i knew about this site!!)

sounds like water pump not enough flow when idling
its not a hard job
4 hours max first time
cost of parts about a ton
change both easy way to doit and change timing belt as well as it has to come off to change water pump

water pump is about Ԛ£12 from a motor factors, belt about the same price
if you do a search for a thread called "cambelt change idiots guide" you will come across a link to a place where there is a step by step guide with pics on how to change the belt.

If you're going to go to the trouble doing the pump and belt then I would change the tensioner too. Especially if you're going to keep the car for some time.
