for ur temp guage mate id change the senders first before u go ripping dashboards apart and stuff. i believe they are blue and brown and mounted on the front of the engive near the thermostat. only one of them does ur temp guage i think(poss blue). as for the idling id go for a good service if it hasnt been done recently. the idling speed can be adjusted on the throttle cable( top of the inlet manifold) for a quick fix but its not rly teh ideal answer i dont think. hope some if this helps.

welcome to the zone.
your roof will probably require adjusting, i would highly recommend buying a Bentley manual, there is a good section in this on roof alignment and cab window alignment. but for now why does it not sit right, do you mean when its folded into the storage area or it does not sit right againast the boot seal when the roof is up?
temp gauge try as above (its the brown one, blue is for ECU temp signal). otherwise you need to remove the instrument cluster and tighten the bolts at the back of the gauge where the wires connect. failing that your SI batteries are dead/dying, again thats a cluster off job and a bit of soldering too.
rough idle can be a million things.
check you plugs, air filter first. Then check for airleaks around the inlet manifold and the rubber hose from the AFM (air flow meter) if that all ok then come back as it could be the AFM incorectly set, the blue temp sensor etc etc etc etc.
