i am wondering how much paint roughly you would need to do a car? it would be for a coulour change not a respray? how many litres woyuld do it?
Also does anyone know the price of it?
And lastly is it only from the dealers you get the exact colour - ofr example sterling silver?.....
paint... cost? quantity? quality?

you may have seen my thread on DIY respray, i just did a E39, same colour but should not matter, i used four litres of paint + 4 litres clear and had some spare, so if you are doing a complete job i.e. inside bonnet boot etc i would budget for this: 5-7 litres of primer, 4-5 litres of colour coat , 4 litres of clear (plus 50% hardener = 6 litres)
(nd a touch more if you intend to do inside the cabin)
when we repsrayed my cabby (full job, same colour) this is roughly what i used you may use some more primer depending on how much body work is required.
As for paint i went to Toyota (who supply Kansai paints) with a paint code (diamond black 181 on my cab, 668 Black II for the E39) and it was a perfect match, i also had some body work done on my sport before i sold it and the match was perfect for that just off the paint code (dolphin grey metallic) as you are repsraying anyway you have no colour match to worry about, ask anyone with a sterling silver for the three figure paint code and any paint suppliers can make it up for you, although looking at the paints4u site UK is horrendously expensive, cost me about 100quid for enough colour and clear coat for my E39.
