Thanks made30mike! I like your avatar!!
I did intend to use the e34 air gox, Andy, but the breakers in the UK didnt send it and the wreckers here in Aussie land want way too much for one. I am using quite a large pod filter and I dont think it would fit inside it anyway.
Thats a good idea too Gareth what you have done - should get plenty of cold air.

i literally dropped the totally stock airbox onto the stock hoses and it just sits there perfectly! the air inlet comes off the bottom edge and has a 3" (ish) long hose that i poked through a new hole in that plastic shield. took me 10 mins to fit including cutting the hole in the plastic with some tin snips

I am a happy chappy
did the 60-80mph (100-130km/h) acceleration test on my car today.
My times were:
5th - 7.3 secs
4th - 5.1 secs
3rd - 3.5 secs
I was aiming for the performance of an Alpina B6 which has the times of
5th - 8.9 secs
4th - 5.6 secs
The test didnt have the time for 3rd.
And I still have a few tricks left up my sleeve eg. chip & cam. Cant wait to do my 0-100km/h and 1/4 times now.

Nice times, which diff are you useing and which diff did the B6 use ?
How did you measure the times, some sort of G-tec type thing ?

Thanks Andy - yes I am happy with those times as they are quicker than an E34 M5 and are on par with an E46 M3. My diff is a 3.46 LSD. The B6 in the test that I have used a ridiculous ratio of 2.79 with the dogleg box so 5th is 1:1 - not sure how to directly compare that with an overdrive box and my diff.
This test is easy as, and it would be good to hear some other times from you guys. All you need is a good quality stopwatch and you start accelerating at about 55mph and start the stopwatch when the needle hits the 60mph mark and then stop it when the needle hits the 80mph mark. Use a nice flat bit of road to get an accurate time.

When I've got mine running properly I will try it.
Better than an M5 is very impressive, that's a quick car!
Will you have a chance to get your's down a quarter mile strip m10man?

I have G-Tech so will do the quarter with that and then next season will get up to the drag strip in Brisbane (Willobank) to get an official time.
I havent done the g-tech yet as I havent got my tacho working properly. I have put the 6 cylinder plug into the tacho but it is still reading as a 4 - I have a feeling it might have something to do with the SI Board.
