I'm doing some detective work on my engine and ECU. According to some text I found, the following should be correct:
320i
'82-'84 Bosch LE Jetronic 0 280 001 301
'84-'87 Bosch LE Jetronic 0 280 001 309
323i
'82-'84 Bosch LE Jetronic 0 280 001 301
'84-'86 Bosch LE Jetronic 0 280 001 308
My '84 car has since had the original 2.3 engine replaced with a 2.5 engine, as claimed by the previous owner's mechanic.
Driving around for the few months, i thought the 170hp 2.5 engine was a bit underpowered due to wear and tear. So, digging around in the engine bay, I couldn't find any indication that I had a 2.5 block...
My plea to the 323i owners in the forum, are there any items I should look for to ID the engine? Location of ICV, cold start injector, distributor location (mine is on LH close to AFM, not in front of block), crankshaft reference sensor, etc.
I'd probably have to run a compression test to check total engine capacity, but I'm holding that off for a bit later....
Thanks!!!!
