Cab is heavier, Sport is pretty similar to a stock one.

Anyone know someone up for lending a Golf Valver for a 'test'

I volunteer my driving services. :D

No roof, but lots and lots of strengthening underneath to make up for it. :)

No, because of the loss of rigidity due to cutting the roof off, they have to compensate for this by making the chassis of the car stronger. :)

with your sig-pic? They'd have to be barking mad...

if you remove a roof from a car you remove shell rigidity; you go from a box which is strong to a flat-thing, which is not; you get flexing and therefore handling and safety go to shit

All soft-tops have extra strengthening to cope with this - usually thicker sills and effective strut-braces at front and rear.

Depending on how well the manufacturer does this, your soft-top either handles well, or not.

If you want the 325 to get properly torn up, make it a VR6.

as i said i will supply the vr6, hell ill supply the 325i (and i really dont think that mine is extremley quick in comparison 2 some on here) but ( having borrowed 2 vr6's for a lengthly period of time i reckon it's quick but over rated

( have seen standard e36 325i's beat it , plus honda civic's ek vti also standard)

all at traffic lights or 1/4 mile no tracks

Golf VR6 is allegedly (very nose) heavy and gets bogged down, especially if the drivers lack erm something

I had a mk3 16v for a few years for commuting 100 miles a day every day (which incidently is not as 'fast' as a mk2 16v), and it would beat VR6s off the line for that reason, but after a few *sorry tens of* yards the golf VR6 comes into its own

the engine is much better in the Corrado, as the chassis was suited/designed for that particular V6

the mk2 16v you guys get here is only the 1.8 right?

or do you get the 2.o 16v aswell ( thats pretty fast)

i agree davenotouring about it coming into it's own futher down the line (never been in corrado)

civics are of my all time favourite's especially E.G Sir,vti or crx vti (throw in a b18 lump and youve got heaven on wheels

hey splondike
you also get a 2.o 16v gti golf mk2
wich came out in two power variations the last being 120kw, never seen it in 2 door form though

it was built to compete against the opel superboss 2.0 16v (125 kw) but failed horribly
the super boss was built because of homologeon rules to compete head 2 head with the 325i
i will try source pictures

the superboss is similar to the vauxaull gte 2.0 16v
only differance is the latter is superboss is better ,faster and badder

I saw a 318i M40 beat a Lamborghini Gallardo once! These BMWs are seriously fast. The badge alone makes the acceleration 10 times better than any other manufacturer. Hang on, the Lambo was parked up though. But hey it still went past it.

Do me a favour mate, E30s are smart but there are quicker 'inferior' cars out there. An early 325i would be a very close battle, but a later one would quite likely be disposed of by a Golf 16v.

One of my mates has a 16v mk2 gti, mechanically standard, I raced him, also with a totally stock engine and the 325i definately had the edge all the way through, good little battle though.

You are obviously a good driver! Hehe.

Like I say, I knew it'd be closer with an early 325.

Definately wasn't driver ability that won it - Timmy!

Was cool racing two of the classic german 80's cars though, even better that mine was the faster and more executive!
