Bought a 525i touring MOT failure, nice and cheap and made a few bucks back after taking the engine out winkeye

The noise is too much to be honest, looking at ways to quieten it down a bit!
318is is a lot of fun but to be fair is absolutely no comparison to M50-go on i dare you to do the conversion to yours, gaurenteed you wont regret it :D

Well, tbh im actually rather tempted by it cos it seems a lot of bang for buck. Got somewhere to store the car and everything so its extremely possible in future. Would love to do it but i need my insurance to come down a fair bit so i have a few years to find a nice cheap 525. :)

Ive now been out in this animal, the CAR not Tony!! and its a monster. Acceleration in first and second and third....thats as far as we got, no more road left!!!! Sounds awesome goes like nothing else on earth! Tony's work is top rate, esp considerin its all done on his drive at an angle similar to climbin Mt Everest!! But then I wud say this, him bein a mate an all! Pure Kudos to the man tho, he is the man hahaha winkeye

There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffer tap

Seriously will be loads better once i sort the exhaust and suspension out, hopefully get it done this week in time for Dartmoor!

Was going to go for a tear up the bypass earlier but didnt fancy it with this exhaust,2K is loud,5-5.5K would be ear piercing 8O

Baz,lets hope it get it done in time winkeye

Neglected this post for a while so thought id bring it upto date!
Still got no video as the exhaust is just too loud to take it for a decent blast

Me and my misses have been using it daily over the last week or so with no real problems.
Centre prop bearing split but sorted this with a new one
Temp gauge is still running thru M50 temp sensor so is useless, but doesnt seem to get too hot, will be sorted this weekend though.
Electric fan is just to ignition on so this will have to be put on a switch/sensor,seems to keep it well cool though winkeye
Fitted the Z3 1.9 gear stick and it feels like standard?
It is the one from my iS so i know how it should feel,is it because im using M50 gearbox and E36 linkage?
Any other M50 guys had this?
Thinking about using a 2.8 one now?
Also the exhaust  Everyone who has heard it says the same thing-leave it as is,but fook that, they dont have to live with it and carry 2 kids young around!
When i say its loud,i dont mean blowing/no backbox loud,i mean Throaty loud winkeye It sounds awesome untill the revs reach 2K then it gets a bit much.Honestly drive up the road and people 200 yards further up are turning round to see what it is
Done a bit of open heart surgery on the Scorpion backbox.Cut it open and packed it out with Motorcycle silencer wadding, has made a bit of diference but not enough,so next move is to fit a front silencer, shame to loose a section of stainless though :?

Changed the front suspension now too, fitted the 51mm Billy`s from my iS,made a huge diference!
Already has new wishbones/balljoints/drop links fitted so feels nice and tight on the front.
Rear is still on drums untill i prepare the ream beam/disc set up from the iS with new bushes etc.

Well thats about it apart from, interior all fitted/couple of new tyres(205/50/16)which im still not sure about, new rear top mounts, blacked out smillies and a few other things ive forgot!

Ill post some pics up of it soon, looks and goes loads different than when i got it about 6 weeks ago winkeye

Sounds good to me. Hope you get the exhaust sorted out. I know what you mean. Its all fun but it does get a bit much when you have to live with it.

Dan,bit late but yes all is going well with it!

Took it on its first proper run today, bout 80 mile round trip to Fritz Bitz in Wellington, relatively trouble free.

Temp gradually crept up to 3/4 but didnt go up any higher, also heater was freezing.
On closer inspection(from RandomDave) turns out the matrix pipes were on the wrong way round, after id changed them round last week thinking they were wrong then
Anyway an hour or so later and all was sorted, both pipes redone, filled up with water and bled system!

Journey home was much better, sat at 90mph most of the way home, temp just below half all the way winkeye

Also picked up a 3.46 (open) diff from Fritz,so going to give that a try at some point soon.

Oh and my starter is knackered so got to change that too  although picked one of them up today too, just got to fit the bugger now.
