Phoned Eibach and gained this:
E36 M3 (not Evo) struts use the same front spring as a E30 and the springs that Eibach sell for this car (E36 M3), late (88-90) 325i and all years of Cabrios have the same front springs. The kits however have different part numbers.
The helpful young lady I spoke to also mentioned that Eibach plan to stop making springs for the E30 next year.
You can also order springs individually, as spare parts, though no warranty is given.
How Eibach springs relate to standard, in terms of height and ride, I've no idea!
Who's going to take a chance?

that's interesting... so the E36 doesn't have a higher spring rate even though it's heavier? that blows my idea ouf of the window then!

I think your idea was the same as mine, to compensate for the heavier M30 engine?gareth wrote:that's interesting... so the E36 doesn't have a higher spring rate even though it's heavier? that blows my idea ouf of the window then!
I think I may try a pair, the cars handling is frightening at speed at the moment!

correct! mine is also scary at all speeds! i suspect it's not helped by having the wrong springs ( i reckon it's got 4 pot saloon springs on!!! it's now veeeeery loooow with the M30 in!
