Well, 1stly , yes I am alive, had a few PM's guess you've all missed me then

Project 1: Supply/Fit 350HP Turbo conversion to M20B25 engine, complete with MsnWasted Spark.

off to a slow start with this one, the original engine is FUBAR, so a replacement has been sourced ( mine  ) and is currently topless awaiting some machining to drop the CR a tad, and some parts for the FI setup.

The parts have finally started to arrive so will make some rapid progress in the next week or so, aiming for an appearance @ surrey roling road, all being well !

UPDATE: pic added ( phone so not great BTW

Image

Project 2: same as one really

this one is for Mr Fowler, were using a 324td crank, CR in the 7.43:1 range, custom everything on this baby  target HP, well, I'm not saying, but its another Megasquirt and Wasted setup, and will feature Holset's finest when the bottom end is run in .

Project 3: Cant say much about this one, some will know the car in question ( Shhhhh Ben !! ) sworn to secrecy on this one by the owner on pain of death( not a zoner BTW )

this one has been turbo'd by someone else.... so basically its rip out all the dubious stuff, and make good on whats left, again MS for this one, in fact she ran for the 1st time in 17 months today, goes well :D

Project 4: This one is mine( E86YKK) , gonna be a fill in for the winter slump, but new engine and complete new FI setup are waiting in the wings, no MS on this, its there already

Project 5: this one could be you

sorry if I've bored you all, but its too late, I've posted anyways winkeye

CR in the 7.43:1 range
Jesus Christ dude!

What the hell's that all about?!

With a CR so low, we can deduce Mr Fowler's aiming for a low orbit? Presumably the pistons and rods are being uprated to make use of the extra strength in the crank and the incredibly low CR? :)

Sounds like fun. Are you going to encounter problems putting all this power through the drivetrain and still get traction.

PS you checked your email?

Ben/Booty, bring it down fella, gimme a week or so though yeah

Alex, for running in, a T3 Hybrid that was once on a Skyline GTS-T 2.5 6cyl single turbo, after the running in, no doubt a Holset in the HX35/40 series, big comp and huuuuuge Turbine housing to let the engine breathe.

Chris, the turbo is a dark art, Big is not necessarily the best, but yup, to pull 30+ psi, its gonna be something from a 10 litre truck engine 8O, cant use a T3/T4, T70 series, the turbine housings are way to restrictive.

Wilson, when we doing yours dude

too true, i certainly wouldn't like to try and drive such a modded engine at anyhting other than full tilt.....must behave a bit "off-colour" as it were in comparison to what its like once spooled, and that sudden belt of power.......should make it intersting in the wrong hands........yet awesome in the right ones

Ant i was thinking that too. What are you going to use to stop all that lag? I also know how Ben drives and hope you know he'll be coming back for a rebuild every week

Depends on how much power you want mate. Obviously the more power you want, the more work that your engine would require and the more it will cost. I'd say a realistic figure for a nice turbo with after market management would be around Ԛ£5k, but can be done less if you can do some of the work yourself.

Ant i was thinking that too. What are you going to use to stop all that lag
well, based on experience with Fozzys monster Holset, the lag is less of an issue than you may think, remember, heat is the key to reducing lag, so given that EGT ( exhaust gas temp) is a function of ignition timing, and we have full control over everything including dwell, I'm sure Lag will be the least of Fowlers worries, affording the fuel/tyres/propcouplings and diffs might be though

5K will would get you a rebuilt( stronger) bottom end and head with all recommmended FI upgrades in place, and a decent sized turbo/intercooler/management combo.

A correctly specced hybrid Turbo will be Ԛ£1090.00 on its own 8O you can "make do" with a smaller off the shelf unit if you aims are lower than 300 HP though.
I also know how Ben drives and hope you know he'll be coming back for a rebuild every week
 yup, I too have felt the might of Bens' right foot , I can protect his investment with limiters, traction control, boost control and water injection if the need arises, the only conversion to poop itself so far is Erel's( blingsta) but that was a cracked head issue on his newly built( not by me I may add ! ) 2.7 conversion, as I said before, he's just bloody unlucky I think

I spoke to PPF who are the ones responsible for some of the crazy E30's running 800bhp+ and they wanted around Ԛ£9k for a reliable 450bhp set up winkeye

My booty is sore now, but i only have Ԛ£8.5k more to make :o:

Don't want the EGTs too high or you're gonna start losing exhaust valve heads!

Don't forget that having the timing too far retarded can be just as damaging as having it too far advanced peeps :)

Another couple of conversions and Ant would be able to afford himself a new ferrari!!!.. Well done Ant, your a top fella, certainly know your stuff mate, just a shame that it had to be my conversion that went tits up. ! ive been busing it to work and back for a few days now coz my engines shagged, but new engine is lined up for install in next week or so, so fingers crossed, just gonna be a standard 325 lump with thick H/H and non stretch bolts. see if engine holds out for me this time round?? Ant earlier in this thread you mentioned something about a stronger bottom end? how can that be achieved mate?? :D
