I have spent most of this afternoon trying to cure two annoying knocks/Vibration on the drivers door.
It seems to happen mostly when setting off from junctions. I have tried re-applying some new grease to the door strap/hinges and also the lock catch.

Could it be the door strap??

Has anybody ever had any similar problems with their cars? if so is there a the cure. Thanks

The frames of the door strap mechanism are prone to breaking, but normally cause clonking noises as you open and shut the door, not a vibration.
There's a strengthening strap that goes between the centre of the bottom inside edge of the door frame and the outer skin. Could this have come loose?

Hi Brian. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. Snowed under at work. Your comments are interesting. I removed the drivers door panel on Saturday and sprayed some white grease inside the door area where the door strap meets. No luck at all. The clonking noise is there most of time. Especially when you open the door. It's just so annoying especially when your driving. You can hear something in there. Is this a big job to replace the door strap mechanisms??

Door strap mechanism is easy to replace (two bolts, and the pin where it connects to the body), but I doubt if it's your problem.
Have you found the strengthening bracket at the bottom.
