Mine have both been replaced, but not sure exactly what's involved. It's a big old job though, as they connect to so many places.

It's also a good time to replace the inner wheel arch panels as well.

why are you replacing it ? have u damaged it or is it because of rust?
replacing this panel is`t difficult just a pain if you aint got all the right tools ,
once its all stripped out theres really nothing to it, most compitent bodyshops would have it off and new one fitted in a day if you stripped it all out for them, it might be worth askin at the place your gettin it painted how much they`d charge or if one of the lads wants some beer tokens to do it one weekend.

i got quoted Ԛ£500 as a bodyshop worker to do it as a private job!

you gotta take the rear screen out, rear quarter window, boot lid off, most of the interior stripped away, bumper off, rear light, boot interior trim, wiring loom

is a big old job

It is a good feeling. I also lost about a gallon of cavity wax behind the new panels as well. There's no way water is getting between the inner and outer arches now 8)

I would defo get the inner replaced at the same time, the only thing that concerns me about doing a DIY 1/4 panel is not having access to a spot welder. You can use a mig and plug weld it along the seams but its messy and corrosion sets in almost immediatley after welding. Also dont butt the panel joints, use lap joints, a butt joint is brittle and more likely to corrode.
