Er, when the steering wheel is twirled to the left but car remains in straight line, might want to give this a check...

It's the rubber coupling between the steering shaft and the steering rack (not sure how to describe them).

Had the tie-rods replaced on both sides, but wobbly steering still happened. Couldn't see it as hidden underneath the clutch reservoir and expansion bottle (for the radiator?)... :P

Orangecurry - sad to say, it got very hard to get a manual 2dr version where I am. Most of the E30s here are M40 or M42 powered, or if M20B20, it'll be auto transmission. Those who do have what I want are not selling or asking price is too steep....

Rust has crept under the accel pedal, beneath the battery tray...

Most of the mechanical parts have never been touched, so you're looking at 22-yrs worth of wear and tear, but I still love it to bits...

So, this will be a long challenge to get it to its prime and glory! :P

Buster - tell me about it. Coming up to roundabouts and finding the car and you are directionally-challenged can be a most butt-clenching moment...
