Carole Nash Insurance Beware!!!
Moderator: martauto
OK, so got a quote from Carole Nash for classic car insurance on my 1990 325 auto cab.
Ԛ£206 fully comp, agreed value, 6,000 miles a year. Thought, not bad.
That was May this year - 2006.
So phoned 'em up today, same details, nothing changed... quess what the premium has suddenly gone up by Ԛ£146, in a few months, to Ԛ£352.
That's a massive 73% in less than 5 months.
So... does anyone use any other insureres for classic cars that are a bit more reasonable.
Cheers.

HIC Herts Insurance Consultants will do the E30 as a classic
obviously not knowing your age/location/history means I can't compare your insurance quote with mine

i would lend you my time machine, but then you would only go back and steal it off me. and i cant have that now!
thats why they say quotes are valid for 30 days only...? so insurance is like house prices now days..
we should all mass-emigrate to may be texas, where the pop. density is about 20 people per square mile
and fuel is 25p per litre
and you can have any car you want. we would all have v12 e30s, and you could half have the engine in, with all front grill taken off, and no windscreen and still be legal to drive it around

where were you about 2 months ago???
Norwich Union, Britains largest insurance underwriter, raised there rates by 16%, in order to "combat" people who fail to insure there cars (where they got there logic from, i'm not sure?! maybe Bush helped 'em out!!)
anyway, in due course, every other insurance company/underwriter also raised there premiums to follow suite, some premiums being a ridiculous 40% higher for, you guessed it, YOUNG MALE DRIVERS...
and that is why insurance is gay. one day, EVERYBODY in England will boycote insurance

OK, I've tried Heritage (cheers Frenchy) they quoted Ԛ£315 for 5,000pa fully comp agreed value.
As an old git with clean everything this still sounds a little on the high side of high.
I'll try a few of the others.
Thanks for all the posts.

As per NWMlarge's suggestion I have called Carol nash back and started the whole process from scratch.
On a classic policy with Chauser they quoted me Ԛ£354.15 (up a bit more from yesterday.
They also gave me a quote on a normal 'modern' policy with Alliance Cornhill of Ԛ£267.32.
This is the best so far.

...just to finish the story off...
Got back to privalage after they quated me Ԛ£351 (and after I re-read the small print that says I've only got 2 years ncb - not full - got full ncb on the 3i8iS)...
...and because I've already got a car insured with them they would kindly reduce the renewal down to, wait for it... Ԛ£190.
And that's for 10k miles pa.
All in all not a bad result.
Many thanks to everyone for insurance co names. I'll file'em away for next year.
Cheers

It's also to pay for fraudulent claims, for solicitors fees on "no win - no fee" claims and for the booming compensation claims market.nwmlarge wrote:its to pay for the claims that people put in for that are hit by uninsured drivers
Insurance is a total rip-off, don't get me started!
