Hi, Can anyone tell me the best way to get more power from an M10.
Cams/carbs etc.

The engine will be for a kit car which has a 2L pinto :puke: in it at the moment.

How much does the m10 weigh the pinto is 135kg.

You can get around 200bhp from an M10 on carbs...not cheap, though:

You'll need:
big valves...especially exhaust, then lots of porting to get a decent inlet flow...
Match to a manifold (Mangoletsi do a copy 02Ti one) and polish that too...45+ carbs (I used to run on 50DCO Webers) and a good manifold and decent fast-flowing exhaust...
Shrick cam and toughen the valve train as much as possible as the rockers are prone to breaking...Then balance and lighten the bottom end...a well balanced M10 will rev to 8500rpm safely and easily.

You'll want a custom advance curve for your distibutor, too...

Dunno how much it weighs, though, but I doubt it would be much less than a Pinto....

From experience (albeit a while back) I reckon to get 200bhp (at the flywheel) you are looking at spending around Ԛ£6k on an M10....

But you could get a stock S14 and that is the same power and around Ԛ£4k cheaper!

How much do you have to spend?

M10 ITBԚ´s Standalone, 30? cam and it should get pretty lively

or
M10 + Turbo + standalone + cam = ALOT more powerfull for alot less money
With great challenges comes great engineering.

Hi

Buy an 2.0l m10 that already come with twin carbs, look for rally02 he was selling that setup for Ԛ£500. I cant remember but the wieght is about 115kg. Better than a pinto as the 2.0l has a forged crank, better valve train design, used parts are cheap, but for Ԛ£600 get an m42 is motor &box and start from there

2.0l M10 was in the 2002 and 2000

Ti versions come with twin 40 Del'ortos

Also fitted to E12 and 520s and E21 320/4

For Ԛ£600 I'd spend it on a full lightening and rebalance of the bottom end and flywheel, toughned rockers, heavy duty valve springs and some porting work in the manifold and head.

If you can find some s/h carbs, then the manifold isn't too expensive...(free if it's on a Ti motor winkeye )
