Managed to start my install at the weekend a week after buying the car. Built a new floor from MDF, then bolted all the amps and PS2 etc in and then put another floor ontop.
Going over to the company trim shop at lunch to pick up the perspex for the amp cut outs and the fabrix to re trim the boot in, oh and some fans to aid cooling, which I will get in tonight are some slight repositioning of the amps etc to get them all spot on.

Not as outrageous as Bootyman's but should still kick out a few Watts.

2 x Visteon 5 channel 500watt amps
Phoenix Gold Bass Cube
Phoenix Gold twin fuse holder
EFX 1 Fahrod Power Cap
PS2
1 x Visteon 600W 12" Sub

This weekend will see the wiring up, including 4 x 8" Visteon 300w 3 ways
4 6" 250w Visteon components and 2 4" Visteon 200w components, along with a couple of Visteon 7" TFT screens (1 in boot for the hell of it) Visteon VCR, Visteon HALF din DVD player, Visteon Sat nav, Visteon digital sataleite TV receiver, Visteon MP3 headunit.

lol guess who I work for??

Looks like it'll be a nice install dude...

Silly question though, and one I've been meaning to ask a few people... what happens when you get a flat? How do you get to the spare wheel...? Or is that me just being far too practical and showing the signs of my age...?

I know what you mean about getting old which is why I have allowed for a flat. The top sheet will just slide out.
The bottom, is hinged in the middle with enough slack on the cable so that you can lift the front half up and get the spare out.
Will also be carrying round a can of tyre weld which is good for 30 miles incase of a flat but to be honest I don't drive far enough to get one. If I do the missus can come out in her car with me spare alpina.
Besides don't fancy been seen with a steel rim on the car!

i have a cunning plan about this one..............

as i cant get to my spare wheel either what im going to do is,

weld up the top part in the boot with some sheet metal then,
cut the bottom off the spare wheel holder, remove the center pin that holds the wheel in place and weld it on to the top

so the wheel is accsesible (typo) from under the car

what do ya think about that then

Does sound like a good idea but sounds like so much work.....if I did a lot of miles then I would probably go down the same route but to be honest I think it would be a lot of effort for something I probably wouldn't need.

But now I have said that I will probably get a puncture whilst out at lunch!

No don't need a spare for the MOT, don't even think they get looked at anymore if you do have one!

I've taken my spare out, I pay breakdown cover for a reason... I'm lazy

Right, we're getting there with the install but I'm having problems visualising where to mount the speakers. I have an un limited supply of speakers from work including 3" 6.5" and 8"'s.

My original plan was to replace the standard speakers in the footwells (no probs) I also intend to get some of those door pods off ebay.
But when I looked at the weekend the parcel shelf doesn't look like it will take the 8 inchers and the rear quarter trim panels seem to flexible to hold a 6.5".

What/where have people mounted speakers?

look's tidy bayne

daryll iv just noticed in your first pic, the sub seems to be prity low down in to the mdf false floor, have you tested it out yet? just incase the actuall sub hits the wood dude,
and as for the rear you can get away with the 8" ers on there but you do have to cut away the metal, i know for a fact these fit as i have 2x10" free air subs on there along with my 6x9's yeah its a prity tight fit but it sound's sooooo good 8)

I've since cut the surrounding area to the sub to allow travel for the cone.
Going to get the jigsaw out bank holiday weekend and cut the parcel shelf and ski hatch!

It's all about the weight reduction! :D
