hi
i have seen the cars on the site for wln automotive. what do you people think of them? Are the mileages genuine do you think? Since most "newer bmws" say 1998 onwards have got 80 000 miles on alot of them. How can a e30 just hvae say 70 000 miles now? Are his prices too expensive if i was looking for a good e30
many thanks

I came across a cab last year in a supermarket car park with 56k on it one lady owner from new (it wasnt for sale ,,,she was driving it) so they are about...personally i think half the fun is sourcing and restoring your own but if you want to pay someone to do it you gotta pay!

WLN are genuine and will sell you a sorted car for a price. As for mileage on e30's in general there seem to be more lowish mileage cars around than there were a few years ago which makes me suspicious of many and they are easily clocked. Genuine low mileage well maintained eg's are worth paying a premium for as a good e30 is a very different proposition to an average one.(WLN are one of the few people who can be relied upon to supply such a vehicle) or you could spend ages travelling around the country listening to liars and viewing their mint cars.

I found the guy at WLN a very sound sort of bloke. I rang him up asking advice on e30's before i bought mine and he took me out in every e30 he had, including his own personal toy and one that he had sold to an american, just so i could "decide" what model i liked!
(and that included a c2.5 and a c2.7) Top bloke and his cars are up there with the best of the best condition wise. As for low mileage older cars, yes they should be viewed with caution, but there are genuine low milers around. Just because it's older, dosn't mean it can't have low miles..........a few years back,i bought a completely original RS500 with 29k.........it had been in a main dealers showroom since 3 year old

WLN exists on his reputation for "no bullshit" cars, what he describes is what you get. He doesn't have a forecourt full of motors, so he has the luxury of choosing his cars to match his reputation.
Concerning low mileage e30s, bear in mind that there will still be plenty around that have had 1 or 2 owners from new and have only been used locally for shopping trips etc. Not everyone that owns a car does 200+ miles a week.
Last year there was a guy from Ashton-U-Lyne, M/CR who sold 2 e30s on ebay, 1 had 24K and the other 26K (certified) on the clocks. They came from the Isle of Man and driving from one side of the island to the other only takes 1/2 an hour!!!!!

I'm not completely perfect.......there are some bits missing or broken.
But the weather here helps!!!

I knew you'd think that!..................actually i fully enjoyed it,as down the twistys it was sh*t to a blanket and that new sports Audi ..........................well i could see the drivers
in his rear view mirror as we shot from nowhere to right with him in quick time
At that time, the car needed some work, but i could see a gem in there with time (and money!) If i owned it , i'd be a happy man. Have you done much with it Simon?

I sold my Sport to Andy at WLN.
WLN trade on reputation. They buy and sell quality motors. Most cars will come with a warranty.
Andy is a top bloke and a guy who doesn't cut corners. A reliable and trustworthy outfit. I spoke to Andy a number of times even before I had even thought about selling mine. He knows his stuff and is a prepared to spend time sharing his knowledge with you.
Hope that helps.

Yes and no really!
i could go on for while now, it's a tight E30 and the shell is pretty good for an early facelift one and still very stiff, no rust on the sills. The doors open shut easily when it's jacked up.
i've removed the ebay tat alpina bonnet, boot badges, K&N cone filter, scorpion dtm system, nasty aftermarket electric windows and m-tech 2 front bumper
did a few bits on the engine service wise, spark plugs, spray bar tappets. rolling roaded it. Found a few faults but i bought it sold as seen and with no warranty.
fitted my exhaust and 6 branch to it, lowered it, smoked a few lights, standard front bumper, fitted a brand new front spoiler the old one had seen some serious action over the years! i've driven it a fair bit weekends, evenings and had a little fun in it! 145 on the clock just the once!
Then slave cylinder went so it's now off the road in my garage not doing much! I wanted to take it off the road and sort the car out, so i have SORN'd it. Stripped all the interior out carpet headlining in my search for any more rust we couldn't see when i first viewed it, side skirts off etc on bottle tops.
I've bought a load of parts to fit to it also leathers, cruise, heated seats, black headlining etc so they are all waiting to go in also
So it's now waiting for me to save then throw the next load of money at it make the bodywork A1 and go from there.
Here's a few from Gaydon a few days before the slave went!

I just bought a SPORT off Andy at WLN, needs a job doing. "Go ahead and get it done and send me the invoice, cheque by return."
Fantastic service I think!
