At the end of the day, is it not insurance companies that come up with these catagories and not DVLA or VOSA ?

but the way they decide which catagory a car goes in makes no sense.
it does not go on how badly the car is damaged, more on values of vehicles and repair costs. the calypso car in my sig is a cat c and i havnt even bothered repairing it as it only has a slight dent in the rear panel. but as ive said before some high end stuff comes through in cat d even though its pretty unrecognisable purely because a cat d car will fetch a higher premium and the insurance company want to offset the money paid out in the claim by as much as possible.

FAO i have had a few cars in for a VIC check by VOSA and they didnt even check brakes or tyres.
Just dont get the VIC and SVA mixed up.
Cat B can go back on the road but expect a "Q" plate to be assigned.
