i keep leaving my soddin headlights on when getting out of my car( standard lights, not halo`s or anything) i`ve got a 320i se(special equipment) apparently?, so why the hell is there no warning buzzer/ bell type thing for when this happens?
should there be one?
cant say ive ever noticed an e30 with one, is it possible to retro fit from another model?

We had a group buy not so long ago (35 units iirc) but they were all spoken for.
An alternative is to install an OBC gong between the dashboard light power supply, and the drivers door switch.

I used the power from one of the light bulbs under the dash (the ones for the headlight height adjustment switch)

and the other goes to the switch behind the drivers footwell speaker.

Quick tip, wire the buzzer across your sidelights not the headlights... stops you leaving them on too...
Currently slumming it in an E46 Touring

Because the original purchaser of the car didn't specify it from the options list! Same reason as it probably hasn't got a LSD, one touch windows, aircon or heated seats.drewjak wrote: so why the hell is there no warning buzzer/ bell type thing for when this happens?
Don't blame BMW because some yuppie 17 years ago didn't tick enough boxes.

arrrh , i was waiting for a slap !
!
i thought this might have been the case, so can the original parts still be sourced from bmw ?
i suspect its only a case of a relay needs fitting?
or is it just as easy to wire it up as the diagram shows?

The OBC gong from an E34/E36 has a second socket on it which I think may be for a lights on indicator.
The problem with using an E30 gong for the job is that it isn't powered when the ignition is off. Something could probably be done with blocking diodes and using the lights supply itself as the power supply.

so glad i found this, its been driving me mad!
even my metro had a lights on warning buzzer as standard, yet an m3 doesnt
still prefer the italian system, the lights go off when you turn off he ignition, but you can force them to stay on by pressing a button next to the key and turning the key back an extra notch before taking it out.
i've taken to driving with my sidelights on most of the time so all the blind idiots on the road have no excuse for not seeing me and trying to drive into me
