whats the different groups?
I paid Ԛ£32 a month on my 318i lux, Ԛ£34 a month on my 320i touring
on a 4dr 320i SE they want Ԛ£43 a month!
(lancaster insurance wanted Ԛ£670 whatever that is a month)
is there a difference between 4dr and touring in terms of insurance? may just switch to a touring if there is
Touring insurance lower than 4dr?

Family car innit.
The 'SE' part may have made it more. Stupid, but true.

My 320i Convertible was more to insure than my 325i Sport and my 318iS.
E30 model variations do make a difference.
AND, my E38 7-series was less than all of the BMW's I've ever had! What effectively was a Ԛ£40k motor was less than the 318iS. Mind you, the 525e on classic insurance was paid off in one month! lol

When I insured it, the guy said "please be aware that no driver under 21 can be insured on this vehicle" I assume that makes is a group 15? but there are 18 year olds with 325i's?
I've got it as an added vehicle on my 318i Lux's policy, Ԛ£12 for the week, will give me chance to have a ring round for cheaper insurance. Hubby is older (37) but has no no claims (never claimed but expired when he was just a named driver on my car), so taking me off the insurance isnt an option.

I don't know about 18 year olds with 325is ' but for enough money anything is possible I guess bet they pay alot though and its third party only. Long gone are the days I litterally spent thousands of Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£'s on insurance but now I'm 24 and a 325i Sport costs me a little over Ԛ£400 with three points and full NCB for fully comp (like for like cover), your insurance seems a bit harsh for a laydee.
Shop around I find egg.com tescos and Adrian Flux have provided the best qoutes for me over the last four years, but I change every year cos I'm always screwed on the renewal premium. For some reason the second year even with no points and no accidents is always more than my first years insurance. For women I heard Diamond are good and Sheilas wheels.
My girlfriend insures our '02 TT with Diamond for 8000 personal miles and 4000 business miles a year, with me on the insurance and shes 24, with only 3 years NCB but no points and 1 accident and that Ԛ£700ish a year.

Tourings are cheaper to insure because they are mostly owned by a better class of person !

Pacermaker is right, most young lads want a 2 dr sport/se not a "family" touring as that is percieved as not as cool. Insurance is a funny old game, i have spent hours doing quotes trying to find the a car that is fast, comfortable, anti-council and cheap to insure...
My audi 100 s4 fits the bill fine, 20 years old Ԛ£588 on my own policy. Thats an Avant(estate/touring) which may make it cheaper too.

Do be warned, my wife got a good quote from Diamond, but they only seem to do TEN MONTH polices... so the quote is cheaper as it's only 10/12ths of a normal yearly quote.
Currently slumming it in an E46 Touring
