Black Kidney Grill + sunroof's

Will somebody tell me what was the deal with some cars having the black kidney grill and others of the same age just being regular, was this an option when purchasing?Were electric sunroofs an option on 325 sports (mtec2), mine has a manual roof but i think most were electric??

People spray there grills black or you can buy them. it wasnt an option
