Can anyone help. I've just had my car back from a local garage. They removed my drivers side mirror and when it was replaced it doesn't work like it should. It only goes from left to right and not up and down.
Passenger side works ok, but clicks when adjusting the drivers mirror.
Has the plug been fitted incorrectly??

it's all connected correctly - the up/down rack is slipping on its drive pinion, either because it's been knocked out of place or is broken.
Was going to say take the glass off and have a look, but you probably should take it back to the garage untouched.

Check the wiring, if its not broke, cos i had this problem with my E21 for 6 years and couldnt be bothered to fix when moving th switch for mirroes to move all it kept doing was click click like yours , so i rewired the lot one sunny boring day and funny enough it started to work, but the amount of wires and the way its wired up its confusing... not hard though... or like brianmooooooooooooooooore says check the rack e.t.c.

The motor is working OK because it goes from left to right.( Same motor also drives it up and down ), and the elecric clutch is working, because it does something different when you try to move it up and down, so, it must be the motor mechanism.

Could well be. They're held in by four screws which look about equally spaced, or it could be the wires plugged in the back wrongly.DanThe wrote:Is it possible to put the motors in upside down?
