Hi Guys, was just having a look through some old bookmarks on my PC when I found a site that talks about fitting a keyless entry system in an E30, it's obvious that the guy in question is not in the UK, so have checked out Maplins and found a keyless entry system for Ԛ£21.99, was just wondering
A) if this is a suitable system
B) Reading his post it mentions the battery in the boot, any conflicts there?
C) How easy to install and could I follow his lead regarding location & wiring?
The guide is here:

The Maplins product is here:

Thanks in advance

The place to fit a module is above the glovebox. The central locking wires you need go across the glovebox heading for the passenger door socket behind the footwell speaker.
The wires you need are : yellow/blue - earth momentarily to lock; and green/blue - earth momentarily to unlock.
If the module flashes the indicators as well, then these are blue/red and blue/black, both on a large multipin plug and socket at the back left of the glovebox.

Looked at the link now! Your car doesn't have central locking?
If not, don't make things difficult by fixing aftermarket crap, when a quality ststem is available from nearly every scrapped E30 in the country.

If you already have central locking, then the Maplin link is just an aftermarket replica of what you already have, although other things in Maplin's range will do what you want.
I suggest you ignore the first link. It would work, but the best place is above the glovebox. Every wire you need to install a complete alarm/entry system is available in this area.
