So BMW look at all the parts stock in the world, whilst GSF and ECP patiently wait at the factory gates to buy any surplus morsels they reject?stuartgallafant wrote:basically, gsf and ecp buy all the items that BMW dont approve on there screening test. so if bmw dont approve it, i wouldnt want it on my car...

yes, thats exactly how it works....
BMW parts are made by specific companies and contractors. For BMW to deem a part good enough to sold by them and go on one of the spectacular vehicles, they screen and approve the parts. Those parts that are approved, are then swept up by companies such as GSF and ECP at an absolute pittance of a price, so they can be stocked on their shelves. Not all of their stock is this of course...
anyway, its not like im the only person on here that knows this. In fact, the only reason i know this is because i learnt it from a few zoners who were talking about it on here once...

Strange when he fitted them to his car....Cotty180 wrote: I think Sal said the poly ones were not great
Poly ones are good, they possibly transmit more dif noise but only really if your dif is noisy in the first place. Lets face it, e30s aren't the last word in refinement anyway.
Another plus is you can fit them much easier than rubber bushes. You can cut the old ones out and press the poly ones in by hand.

Are you talking about batch rejection from an individual plant or manufacturer, where batches which fail BMW QA might be jobbed out to independent motor factors? Or certain manufacturers having approved status?stuartgallafant wrote:BMW parts are made by specific companies and contractors. BMW contract people to make parts for there franchise fealerships to stock and sell. When these parts have been made, by batch, they go on to be tested. if there is a specific 'pass rate' say for example, the batch consists of 1000 items, 100 items are tested and out of that, 70 of them items are good, the batch is dispatched. any less, and the batch is expelled
this is only an example, but this is just a basic idea of what happens. if you think about, ECP and GSF might end up with 500 good ones that would have passed, and BMW might have taken a batch where most of them will fail. Thats why on most parts you buy direct from a BMW dealership, you get a 2 year fitted part warranty

I cant find the quote/thread but he said something like they transmit more noise into the cabin especially if you do a lot of motorway driving.ste wrote:Strange when he fitted them to his car....Cotty180 wrote: I think Sal said the poly ones were not great
